Iris Setlakwe’s passion for fashion isn’t anything new. At just 21 years of age, the young woman launched her own retail clothing company for men and women. Ten years later and with impressive professional experience to her credit, this self-taught designer founded the Pur label in 2001, which eventually became her own eponymous label, Iris.
For her upcoming 2013 Spring-Summer collection, designer Iris Setlakwe artfully combines natural materials and flamboyant colours to transport us into a universe of elegance and romanticism that is as glamorous as it is feminine. A collection highlighted by casual chic accents where diaphanous fabrics harmonize beautifully with summer freshness.
Enjoy the photos of some of mine favorite pieces from the runway show!

Not much needs to be said about designer Denis Gagnon but for those of you who for some odd reason are not familiar with him…
…Renowned Montreal designer, Denis Gagnon creates his collections with distinctive refinement, while injecting a dose of mystery and modernism. Recognized for his silk and leather manipulations, playing with textures and layers, Denis Gagnon’s style is continuously evolving.
What we saw on the runway this time around was a continuity of his previous collection, where textures and genders interlace, Denis Gagnon explored a silhouette that allowed people the freedom of appropriation and interpretation . Inspired by an inner identity which sometimes clashes with the image portrayed by individuals, the designer worked with oppositions, creating a line for men and women.
I have to say that Denis Gagnon’s fashion show was a real fashion show while most of the other fashion shows presented during Montreal Fashion Week were mostly just a presentation of their next collection. Denis Gagnon had the whole package, show, excitement, amazing collection and this is a fashion show I will remember.
I’ll let the photos speak for them selves but I want to say AMAZING job Denis Gagnon and I already can’t wait to see the next collection!

Hey Lovelies!
How are you? So Montreal Fashion Week is over but fashion is here to stay. I know I posted some pics of my different outfits on facebook on the ViktoriaLove page but here is a better outfit post of what I was wearing on Day 2 at Montreal Fashion Week.

Sunglasses: Vintage leather RayBan’s from the 70′s
Necklace: Marlene Birger
Top: Christian Dior
Belt: Gucci
Skirt: Ralph Lauren
Bag: Gucci
Shoes: Tory Burch
Arm candy: Hermes, Louis Vuttion, Childhood and other bracelets I usually wear

I’m usually not a big fan of mixing to many patterns but this time around I was all over it and I personally think I pulled it off pretty well. I mean pretty much every single piece I wore that day was some kind of pattern or print but they all blended really well. I know that most people attending fashion week here in Montreal (including myself) tend to dress in neutral colors such as blacks, whites or beige’s. I’m guilty of this too but I wanted to change it up a little bit this fashion week especially since the weather was still nice enough to wear so bold prints and colors.
I know that most of you preferred my Day 1 outfit but I personally think that you can’t really compare them since they are two completely different style altogether. Day 1 outfit was very Cleopatra and sophisticated as well as more dressy and elegant. This, Day 2 outfit was more downtown hip and chic. More relaxed, colorful and fun. I like them both equally as much.

I would love to hear from all you lovelies what you think about my Day 1 and Day 2 outfits as well as stay tuned for Day 3 and 4 outfit posts coming up very shortly.

Fashion designer Mélissa Nepton specializes in modern, ready-to-wear couture that targets the urban career woman. Hers is a vision that reflects both her personality and view of fashion: “For me, fashion is a vigorous expression that impacts women’s lives in a positive way. And in return, women bring to fashion a sense of sensuality, fluidity and femininity. It’s a communication rooted in comfort, practicality and confidence.”
Mélissa understood at a young age that fabrics were creative tools she wanted to explore as she watched her mother create theater costumes and children’s clothes. Mélissa quickly embraced a steadfast road to fashion perfection. She completed her prep school years attending the renowned fashion program at Marie-Victorin College before entering Montreal’s L’École supérieure de mode. Mélissa’s talent was already noticeable and attracted her teachers’ support, encouraging her to pursue studies abroad. This called to Mélissa’s sense of adventure, and she set sail for Paris to complete her academic education at L’École Nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris—a formative year where she presented her first runway show.
Back in Montréal, Mélissa furthered her understanding of the industry’s business side by working as a buyer-designer for the Marie-Claire Group. Her dream of creating her own label came true in the unique form of a reality TV show when she was cast in La Collection, Québec’s version of Project Runway. Mélissa soon after established her eponymous label and followed with a first collection at Montreal’s Fashion Week in 2009. Since then, Mélissa Nepton has quickly established herself among top designers in Québec and enjoys a strong following amid local celebrities.
This time around for SS13 Melissa Nepton presented us with a seaside luxury that was teamed up with practical chic and audacious comfort. Her collection was inspired by movements, colors and her well-known maîtrise du détail. There was a ton of “flowy” and silky materials in soft colors. The was a suttle complexity to the cuts and shapes of her clothing which made it more luxurious. I enjoyed this runway show very much I can see myself wearing quite a few pieces from this collection which I always find very important when presented with a new collection on the runway.
Have a look at the photos below to see my favorite pieces from Melissa Nepton’s SS13 collection.

This collection brought us a juxtaposition of eclectic references that weaved the canvases with creative work by MARTIN LIM. There was a lot of references of the twenties mixed with contemporary influences with a hint of modernist. It was very chic but at the same time it portrayed and effortless style.

Anastasia Lomonova was born in Odessa, Ukraine in 1984. After the collapse of the USSR, she moved to Cyprus with her family where they lived for several years before coming to Canada. Initially trained as a visual artist, specializing in oil painting, Anastasia entered theRyerson University school of fashion with the desire to express her creativity in a more socially involved domain. After completing her apprenticeship, she started her eponymous label in 2007. Since then, Anastasia has won several awards and been named one of Canada’s most promising young designers.
When I saw the collection for SS13 I felt like we were transported to a place where imaginary meets the past. Maybe a home of nomadic African tribes that have been adorned in the splendour of the antiquities. The collection was filled with fiery reds, burnt blacks that evoked the scorching heat of the desert and the sun. There was also cool blues that portrayed the horizon of a world where everything is beautiful.
I really enjoyed the creativity and the complexity of the designs that Anastasia Lomonova resented us with. I love the different textures of the materials used for this collection and the way they were mixed and matched together. I most def felt like I was transported across the world when watching this show. It was not just a presentation of her beautiful clothes but also a real fashion show.
One of my favorite pieces what a head-to-toe “Chubaka meets Flapper” outfit. When you scroll down and look at all the photos you will know exactly which piece I am talking about. I also loved that Anastasia Lomonova made the effort to design gloves or hand-pieces and shoes for her collection. They were truly amazing and completed the outfits presented.
Have a look at my favorite pieces from this fashion show below.

Great work Anastasia!!!

Payam Tavan and Mike Mitto have been designing together since 1995. After a successful run in Europe, the duo moved to Montreal and have been regaling us with their collections ever since.
I loved that Tavan & Mitto had a very simple but yet complex style of their SS13 collection presented last night. I also really enjoyed all the cropped tops that were part of this collection and the flirty short and cut-out dresses. Here are some of my favorite pieces from the runway.

I absolutely adore this purple, cropped lace top I can already think of a few ways to wear it next season.

Usually I’m not a big fan of patterns that are busy however this colorful and metallic material was a big hit according to me and once again I loved the cropped top.

This is most def one of my favorites from the show. I love the color, I love the flirty short and bouncy skirt, the cropped top and most of all I love that it’s all made of lace. Genius!

Simple, white and flirty. I can imagine how gorgeous this dress will look on sun tanned skin.

This dress is very cute and perfect for a summer night of going out on the town.

I know we have seen shirts that are shorter in the front and longer in the back but what I ABSOLUTELY loved about this shirt is that you could tuck it into your pants or skirt but you still have all that flowy material in the back. Gorgeous shirt and I have no doubt that this will be a big seller next season although I would really want one now for the fall season.
I have seen lace tops, lace dresses and lace skirts in the past but lace pants is new but I adore these pants and think that it’s a great way to re-invent lace materials.

All in all I have to say that I LOVED what Tavan & Mitto presented last night. I was my favorite show of MFW day 1 hands down. It was innovative, complex but yet so simple and most of all very wearable. I don’t think I saw once piece that I would not be interested in wearing myself.
Congratulations Tavan & Mitto your show and collection was amazing!

Hey Lovelies!
Yesterday was the first day of Montreal Fashion Week and as I already told you I was very excited to once again be part of this amazing and very fashionable event. It’s always a big deal to find the perfect outfits for MFW. I mean you are surrounded by so many fashionistas and designers that all have amazing style that it sort of becomes a little bit of a challenge to pick an outfit. However, in the pic above you can see what I wore to the opening evening of MFW #23 last night. And yes I totally rocked it on the catwalk but only before everyone arrived. It was a great feeling though to walk up and down the runway I think I could get used to it if I had too. Just saying…

As I mentioned in my post yesterday MFW has moved to a new location called the Arsenal in Griffin town and I think that the venue is spectacular for this type of event. I’m not saying that Marche Bonsecours was bad but this is a hundreds times better for an event like this. I also think that the new PR agency called Torchia has done an incredible job so far. The girls are so nice, friendly and helpful. I love it!!!
While sipping on my glass of wine and studying the MFW program, instagraming and tweeting I was in my zone while at fashion week. Then of course there was the meet and great with all the lovely fashionistas, designers and friends that I have got to know over the years. I might not see them for 6 months but we always re-unite at fashion weeks which is so much fun.

I must say that the opening day / night of Montreal Fashion week was a success in my eyes. I enjoyed all the fashion shows that were presented yesterday. Usually there is always one or two I’m less satisfied by but I have to say that last night I was really pleasantly surprised by all the participating designers. Stay tuned for gorgeous photos and reviews of each and every fashion show from MFW day 1.
Once again I hope to see you all there this afternoon and evening. I’m sure that today’s shows have something nice in store for all of us fashion lovers.

Hey Lovelies!
Do you know what day it is today? It’s time for Montreal Fashion Week to open it’s doors once again and welcome all the very talented designers to the runway and Montreal’s most fashionable people to the stands to see what SS13 has in store for all of us. Once again I have been invited to be part of MFW and I would not miss this opportunity for the world.
It’s going to be a jam-packed schedule for the next four days filled with fashion and more fashion. Here is the schedule for today’s events. However I need to also let you know that for the very first time in its history, MFW will be held at the Arsenal, a 40,000 square-foot former shipyard located in the up-and-coming Griffintown neighbourhood. The Arsenal went through various incarnations over the years before becoming the new contemporary art centre it is today. This impressive space will set off the highest fashions in style.

So, are you prepared for a style invasion as thousands of fashion industry professionals descend on Montreal today to September 7 for the 23rd Montreal Fashion Week? This will once again be a colourful event produced by Groupe Sensation Mode in partnership with P&G Beauty. Not only will the fashion world’s elite be on hand, but a few fortunate fashionistas will be able to get themselves one of the limited number of seats set aside for the general public to witness the latest trends first hand. The question is now are you going to be there? You can still get your tickets HERE!
Montreal Fashion Week is a must-see event for the North American industry and above all, the perfect venue for launching major international collections. A stage for cultural expression, it celebrates the work of fashion artists, craftspeople and other creators with an effervescence all its own. At this fall’s Fashion Week, over 30 Montreal, Canadian and international designers will unveil their Spring-Summer 2013 collections. I mean how exciting is that? I know that every time MFW comes around I get so excited and nothing else really matters, it’s just all about fashion right here in Montreal.

Here are the designers that are presenting their different and unique styles at MFW this time around.
Do you have any favorites from the previous Montreal fashion weeks? Or maybe you are dying to see some of the new and fresh additions that have joined MFW this season? I know that I want to see them all just like every other fashion week…

I hope to see all of you there and remember it’s not to late to get your tickets for all the shows or just the ones that you really want to see but don’t miss out on this very fashionable event starting today!
