On August 22nd I was invited to join the Montreal Networking Group on their networking 5 a 7 that was held at the wonderful Terrasses Bonsecours in the Quays of the Old Port here in Montreal. Actually one of my friends really wanted to check out this event so I said I would go with her to keep her company but then I was invited by the lovely organizers Billy and Ali so I just had to check it out.
At first I was a little skeptical on how this event would work-out for several reasons. One of them being I had never heard of this specific Montreal networking group. Secondly, I was a little worried on what kind of people would be attending this event. Either way I was excited to attend and see what it was all about.
When me and my friend arrived to the event there was already quite a bit of people there which is always a good sign when attending events. The earlier the guests arrive the more likely it’s going to be a good event. It’s just an observation I have made over the years. We walked in and almost right away I have this guy come up to me and he says: “I need to see your media pass miss!” I’m caught off guard so I think to myself who does he think he is? But little did I know, it was actually Billy (one of the organizers of the event) just joking around with me. He turned out to be a super nice guy. Very talkative and welcoming and only minutes after we got acquainted he made sure to introduce me to his partner Ali and he was just as charming as Billy. I was offered drinks there was a ton of different hors d’oeuvres being offered to all the guests as well.
So now that me and my friend had been introduced to the organizers it was time to start the mingle. Since I was there more to observe than to actually meet people I told my friend I would follow her lead. However, within 30 seconds of us starting to walk around I had lost her and I ended up talking to some very nice and interesting people. When I finished my drink I looked at my watch and an hour and a half had already passed by. Yikes! Time flies when you’re having fun. I headed over to my friend which I had not seen since basically the beginning of the event to see who she was talking to.

As the sun was setting and I was meeting more and more interesting people I was really happy that I got to experience this event. There was professionals there from all different kinds of industries and everyone was really friendly. It was a pleasure to meet everyone there and I really look forward to attending the next event that will be held in a couple of months so keeps your eyes and ears open.
I think Billy and Ali describe their events the best and I quote:
“We don’t just want you to leave our events with a pile of cards; we want you to leave with the opportunity to continue to build lasting relationships. We want to build a community where you will be introduced to new contacts on a regular basis.”
And this is exactly the experience I had at this Montreal Networking Group event. Fun, fabulous and totally worth attending.
I have to thank Billy and Ali once again for inviting to their fabulous and very fun event. For those of you who would like to attend their next event click here fore more details and future dates.
