How are you? I’m doing well as always…
Last week I tried a new form of exercising called Crossfit. I was a little hesitant at first, or shall I say I might have felt a little intimidated to try it since I was under the impression that it’s mostly guys that do crossfit. However, that is not actually the case girls can totally do crossfit as well. OK, I’m sure some of you are wondering what crossfit really is so let me explain.
CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide. The crossfit program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. Basically this means anyone can do it and the intensity is adjusted to each individual.
During one session you can be doing push-ups, sit-ups, burpees, spinning, weights, trx and the list goes on and on. The possibilities of a workout like this are endless can be different each and every time. Don’t get me wrong you will sweat and be exhausted at the end of this workout but it’s totally worth it. I tried it for the first time last week and I loved it. I did it on Tuesday (worked upper body) then on Wednesday (worked lower body) and on Friday again where there was an intense session of working the abs. YES! I was sore everywhere at the end of the week but I was also hooked and addicted to crossfit. That’s it once you try this type of workouts you don’t feel the same when working out by yourself or taking classes. It’s like an adrenaline rush that flows through your body for an entire hour and when you leave the gym you’re on an all-time high.
Basically when doing crossfit you have a bunch of different stations and you do as many reps as you can on the particular station you are on during let’s say 30 seconds and then you move on to the next station. There is no breaks in between till you complete a full circle of all the station that have been set up for that specific session. Does this make sense?
I highly recommend for all of you to try it out and you’ll see you will be just as hooked as I am. There is a bunch of gyms in Montreal that offer this type of workout but as you know I go to Vic Park in Westmount and I like to do my sessions with Dany however all the trainers at Vic Park are awesome so take your pics.
