I don’t know if this weather has anything to do with all of the Fall 2011 previews I’ve been attending, but if so, I’d like the clothes to be available right now, instead of in a couple of months!
This week, I attended a preview of Banana Republic and Gap Fall 2011 collections and let me tell you on a rainy day like today I would much rather wear something from these Fall 2011 preview collections than all the summer dresses that are in store now.
GAP Fall 2011 Preview
Gap Fall 2011 preview collection, was everything that I want my workwear/everydaywear to be: contemporary classics with a twist.
I already raved about the Gap Fall 2011 Lookbook, which…let’s face it…has a ton of amazing pieces so this year Gap did not disappoint.
Even the most basic of items, like a work blazer, had a sense of cool about it, all thanks to leather detailing. This great attention to detail is what sets this collection apart from all the previous Gap collections and for me. It’s a far cry from my first visit to a Gap store back in 2002 when I first came to visit Montreal as a tourist…it’s no longer all about t-shirts and jeans only.
Gap designs are evolving, becoming trendier, more edgy and guess what I’m loving it!!!
All the leather pieces from this collection are the items I’ll be shop-stalking like a hawk because they are bound to sell out like hot-cakes once they hit the stores.
Gap Fall 2011 Preview are below have a look to see the amazing collection coming to a Gap store near you in the fall!
The Gap has recently marketed their premium denim and re-branding their essentials. This coming season, we see a focus on pants, particularly in luxurious fabrications like leather. Leather pants, skirts and accessories, the Gap aesthetic is yet again, evolving. The women’s wear also takes a masculine twist with tailored jackets, straight legged and jodhpurs pants in neutral tones.
Men’s wear stays true to the Gap signature look, but an emphasis on layering is evident with cropped and suit jackets a top of knit cardigans, casual shirts and tees. All though the mens wear has not changed as much as the women’s it just kind of works.
Banana Republic Fall 2011 Preview
Banana Republic’s Fall 2011 collection takes a more somber and dramatic autumnal palette. The vivid pops of colours of mustard, plum, red hues and caramels remained subtle with the backdrop of slate, green tones and beige. In other words a true fall collection. Layered textures became a reoccurring trend – knits, scarves, printed skirts and jackets all accompanied by simple separates.
Banana Republic’s Fall 2011collection is very feminine, with rich autumnal shades like I mentioned before, fantastic outerwear options, and beautiful accessories such as the bracelet you see in one of the pics. It wasn’t exactly my style, but I am definitely planning to pick up a few pieces from the collection, starting with a gorgeous leather vest in soft pink you see in the picture above.
A big thanks to Gap and Banana Republic for inviting me to the Fall 2011 previews of their collections.
