Montreal Fashion Week was kicked off with Ralph Leroy’s fashion show at Marche Bonsecure in the famous cocktail lounge.
It was a show filled with color, music, makeup, and all in all a sexy fashion show. Later on in the week I was lucky enough to meet designer Ralph Leroy, to talk about his stunning collection.
Ralph Leroy told me that the collection for Fall 2011 / Winter 2012 is all about women and power. Which you could tell from just watching the show as well as there was a lot of red which is a color that is usually associated with power.
Ralph Leroy also told me that the inspiration for this collection came from our society. Since our society has been filled and is filled with powerful women such as Evita Peron, Jacqueline Kennedy and today’s Michelle Obama. Ralph said that it was the reason he enjoyed making this collection for women, for women that are dynamic, intelligent and bold.
I was also told that there will be a lot of wool, silk, and sophisticated styles in the upcoming collection. Ralph said that he likes to create his own trends because he likes to do things his way. I like that answer a lot, sounds a little like me…
One of the things we will see a lot of in the upcoming collection is a lot of red as I mentioned before because that it is something that is present in everything Ralph creates.
Another thing I noticed when I was watching Ralph Leroy’s show is that the makeup was very different, the hair was different, there were many details present in the show that can give people a way to identify themselves with the models and the fashion in this collection which is fantastic.
This was one of my favorite outfits from the fashion show and I can’t wait till the day I can go and purchase it and wear it to work. Another thing, after having watched Ralph Leroy’s fashion show I could not stop thinking of going and buying myself a pair of bright red tights. I never thought I would do that but Ralph changed the way I look at colored tights. I went from hating them to loving them. Only a true designer and artist can do that.
This was the first fashion show I watched at Montreal Fashion Week but after having attended each and every single show (more than 20 shows) during the past four days Ralph Leroy’s show and collection is stayed as one of my favorite ones. It is most definitely in the top three on my personal list.
Great Job Ralph Leroy!

In conclusion I would like to say that it was very nice meeting you Ralph and thank you for taking the time to talk to me about your collection. I loved your show and I can’t wait to see more from you.
